Unconscious similarities

I took the unique opportunity to make this work during an artist in residency in the oldest ceramic town of Japan. In Arita I found three Japanese potter families who were willing to collaborate. I filmed in a very specific way, father and son throwing exactly the same bowl. The outcome is a series of short films as a testimony of the differences and unconscious similarities of the gestures of their hands. Filming three families doesn’t provide us with scientific results but they are of a stunning beauty.
